Hello

My name is Paula Mastrangelo. I am a graphic designer with a particular interest in typography and a great deal of experience in editorial design and corporate image. I currently reside in The Hague, Netherlands. After graduating from EINA, Escola d'art i Disseny in Barcelona, Spain, I worked at La Vanguardia, one of Spain's most influential newspapers. Since then, I have worked on the creation of corporate magazines. For more than a decade, I held positions as Editorial Art Director and director of various teams for some of Spain's most influential companies. In 2009 and 2010, I received the Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators.

In 2012, I decided to specialize in typography and enrolled in the Master’s in Advanced Typography course at the UAB, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Upon graduation, I began to work with Retype and took part in the Medusa type family's production process. The Laski Slab family –my graduation project– was published and marketed by Retype. Laski Slab was awarded The Certificate of Excellence of Tipos Latinos Biennale 2014 and The Gold Award in Hiii Typography 2014.

My keen interest in typography remains intact, so I decided to enroll in the Expert class in Type design course at the Plantin Instituut voor Typografie in Antwerp, Belgium, where I got the highest grade in the 2016-2017 course.

Since 2006 I have also been teaching at prestigious universities such as UAB, IDEC- Pompeu Fabra University, and UVic, University of Vic. I currently teach classes on the Master’s in Digital Publishing at BAU, Design College of Barcelona.

In 2013, I started my project as an independent professional. I have worked with Contrapunto BBDO, Retype, SurvivorNet, and Regency Creative, among other brands.
